Why Susan Needs a Kidney
We, along with our dad Jeff, her husband of 52 years, are searching for a kidney donor for our mom, Susan Brine, a West Hartford resident and top Realtor for more than 35 years.
To my sister Allison Sharlow and I, she is more than just our mom, she is our on-call doctor, therapist, problem solver, grandma to our children, and most importantly, our hero. She always puts us and our families first, and her three grandchildren are her world. There isn’t a day that goes by where she doesn’t visit, text or FaceTime with each of them. She is the heart of our family and we cannot imagine a holiday, birthday or day at the beach without her.
Our mom was diagnosed with End Stage Kidney disease during the past year and finding a kidney donation will give her the best opportunity to live life to the fullest. Currently the wait time for kidney from a deceased donor is 4-5 years.
We know this is a big ask. There are two ways you can help.
First, if you are interested in being a living donor, you can fill out pre-screen questionnaire by clicking the Learn More button, below, and then go to Start My Referral. It’ll take less than five minutes to complete, and from there our wonderful transplant team will assist you with the rest of the screening.
The second way that you can help, is to share this site with others who may be willing to be a living kidney donor.
A donor does not need to live in Connecticut, nor does the donor need to be a perfect match. A donation, usually done laparoscopically, regardless of the recipient, would ensure that our mom receives a kidney through the kidney paired exchange program.
